South London Business Awards

The Awards Evening

2019 was the first year the South London Business Awards was held. It brought together businesses across all the boroughs across South London which had won within their individual boroughs to reward the best of the best.

Hot off our win at the Wandsworth Business Awards we were unsure what to expect especially when pitted against the winners from all the other boroughs. We were shortlisted in two categories: Best Local Business and Best Business with over 50 employees.

On Halloween night we went to the Croydon Park Hotel (with Natasha still in her face paint from the day in the office). We had low expectations of winning at these awards but we thought it would be worth visiting to check out the competition.

Once seated, the categories and winners were beginning to be announced. The first category we were in for was Best Local Business alongside 23 other amazing businesses. We were pleasantly surprised to be commended in this category.

Next up was Best Business with over 50 employees. There were only 6 businesses shortlisted for this category. None were chosen for the Commended award, Highly Commended went to Inside Marketing (another Wandsworth Business). Last the announcement of the winner – Beaver Pest Control.

The sheer surprise and elation at being named the best in South London in this category was over-whelming. We took to the stage to receive the trophy – thanking everyone and explaining that our biggest success is creating 70+ jobs for people across London to work within a wonderful company.

We took our seats again, still shocked while the rest of the categories were read out. The final category is not one you enter – the judges are tasked to literally choose from the best of the best to announce the Business of the Year.

This is the most prestigious award of the evening. And once again, we were left speechless at the announcement that we had won!
