Beaver Pest Control – Wandsworth Business Awards Winners!!!
Having known Beaver Pest Control for 6 years before I joined as the Customer Service Manager, I already knew that it was a great place to work. Over 15% of the employees have been here for over 15 years. Also they had won a string of awards. The company must be doing something right and I was not wrong!!
So when I was asked to present to the judging panel for 2 potential awards, I relished the challenge. The only issue being how on earth was I going to fit in all the great things about our company in such a short space of time???!!!!
The Pitch – Think along the lines of Love Actually!!
The judging day come, and to be honest I was nervous. I REALLY wanted to do the company proud. But how on earth was I going to remember everything under pressure. That’s when the genius idea came to base our pitch on one of my favourite Christmas films Love Actually!! Picture the scene – Mark is stood at Natalie’s door with his giant notecards declaring his love. Well in my version, I was sat in front of the judges with my giant notecards with all the reasons why Beaver Pest Control should win their category!! Both pitches were over in a flash and now all we had to do was sit tight and wait.
We’d made it as finalists – onto the Gala Dinner and Awards presentation
The 11th October arrived, myself, Julie, Gabi and Cris dressed up in our finest clothes. We headed down to the Roehampton Club to mingle with Wandsworth’s best to await our fate. (Thanks to Dave Pullinger – Head of Service for the lift). It was the first time I had been to this event. There’s so much talent in Wandsworth and this a fantastic way to celebrate it! The first award we were up for was Employer of the Year. Unfortunately, it was not our year for this one. The last award of the evening was the second category we were in, Best Business with over 50 employees. The winner was announced – Beaver Pest Control. We’d WON!!! I was over the moon, and as I said in the acceptance speech, it truly is deserved. What we stand for, the people within our company and the work we do is what makes us who we are – deserved winners.
The night had come to the end and we awaited our carriages. (Thanks Bryan McDonough – Service Manager for the lift home). A huge sigh of relief, and clutching the award home, I could not wait to take it into the office on Monday and share with everyone. So like I said in the beginning what a great place to work, and I was just so glad that I could carry on the legacy of winning awards for the company.
Onwards and upwards to 2020!
